Queenstown and back. Sept.2013. His n hers

Left Friday afternoon and after a spectacular drive through the Mckenzie Country, we over-nighted at the Bungy Bridge at

Kawerau Bridge just out of Queenstown. Free-parking in the carpark.

 

Then it was off to Queenstown to meet B's Parents

for the day.

 

 

 

A stroll on the shore,

 

 





Then they shouted us a wonderful cruise on the Earnslaw. :)

 

The guys spent most of the trip watching this. :)

Then we were off to Arrowtown.

Lots of lovely old buildings, and a visit to the Old Chinese settlement down by the river.

 

Was a lovely day and from here we headed north again and overnighted on the shore of Lake Pukaki.Again Free-parking.

Arrived after dark so we woke up to this fabulous view. :)

Then we meandered up the side of the lake to check out

Tekapo B Power station.

 

 

Then a stop off at the Old Cromwell town,

 

 

over the Lindis Pass and home.

A lovely weekend .

I was so busy enjoying the trip that I didn't take many photos.

Fox Glacier.Late August. 2013.Hers.

 Stopped overnight at Franz and visited the Glaciers.

I didn't take my camera to Franz but had fun at Fox Glacier.

This Glacier is more accessible even tho they have retreated hundreds of meters recently.

 

The Glacier valley is awe inspiring with the towering cliffs and Huge boulders.

Then the Glacier is magnificient.

The area at the face of the glacier is closed, but you get a great view from up beside it.

 

Can you see the idiot tourist down in the no-go zone.

Mind you he was helpful in giving us an idea of scale.

The melting water is milky coloured this close to the glacier.

This shot gives an idea of the scale of this magnificent valley .

It was a glorious spring day and only a few tourists around :)
